Class 3 actually means Class "candice stinks at being a hygienist"
So obviously today was my class 3 patient. First item of business, she is thee cutest lady. Super sweet and kind. Second item, her calculus sucks. End of story. So she is so strong and patient with everything! I love her! April did her left side, and I am doing her right. We split this patient because I gave her the name while April did the screening because I could not. So it worked out perfectly. Anyways, today I worked so so hard on her mouth! I felt like I was getting so so much off her teeth and you could feel how smooth her teeth were, then it came time for a scale check. I missed spots...whats new. But these spots were DIFFICULT!! Honestly, I never understood what people meant by "tenacious calculus" until today. For the first time, I felt, and observed tenacious calculus removal. One word....SUCKS. Seriously, this stuff would NOT and I repeat NOT come off her poor teeth! It was like cement literally stuck/glued on her teeth!! So then you get lil ole me, 1st year baby student who thinks she has enough strength to get it off...wrongo. News flash candice, You dont. I was putting so much lateral pressure on the tooth (well atleast I thought I was) and then I had Karen and Sam come watch/help me. They gave me great tips and helped me feel for the rough areas. I would love to know why, why on earth does calculus, well atleast the hard spots, always like to be at the deepest end of the pocket!! Seriously! Cant we catch a break?!! Geez! Anyways, after I tried this specific spot, which I felt like it was tooth anatomy, I had karen take a stab at it. She pulled and pulled and still got nothing, so she figured it was tooth as well. Then sam went, and said the same thing, and then we got the big boss....costley. She came over and after I saw her strenght go at that tooth for about a good 5 minutes, she finally got it off. Apparently, it was burnished calculus...and might I add it sucks to get off. Clearly. I mean I had 3 people over helping me get this specific area off!! THREE PEOPLE!! Not two or not one....THREE!!! I swear I thought Costley was about to straddle my sweet patient just to get that calculus off!! It would have made a good laugh for the day!! Anyways, I was the last person to walk out my patient, and everything else. I felt good in some areas today, but horrible in others. I am drained. My low back hurts, and surprisingly not my shoulders. My baby fingers need to hit the gym, if you know what I mean. They are PATHETIC. I gotta get some protein or something in them, to help boost their strength! Ü I see my class 3 on monday...oh heaven help me. I dont like this, I wish you could snap my fingers and become good/strong. Will I ever be like the instructors or second years?!....who knows...I am hoping and waiting for that day.
