So today was my day of pes...I guess. You see, there are days where you get quads (good criteria quads 2, 3,'s) and then there are those days where you get easy confidence booster, make you feel amazing quads (1b's). Today was one of those days. My cute brother came in for his 6 month cleaning, I saw him in march and he is back before the mission!! Love him!! He hardly had any calculus, which is surprising because he does not like to brush haha. He was so cute and let myself and April pass off air/powder polish pe. We also did diagnodent and then I did Blood glucose testing on him!! It was super productive, and I scaled him in less than 20 minutes!! Holla!! I always give myself 20 minutes. I look at that clock and hurry my fingers!! It feels so good to stop scaling at that point and then just explore and floss. Check out any areas and then go back and get those areas if you missed them!! Good morning!! P.s. It snowed like crazy and it was insane. Patients were cancelling left and right!! RIDICULOUS!!
In the afternoon I saw a family friend who had not been to the dentist for 3 years. I was able to take BWX on her and then scale. She had lots of restorations and som recurrent decay. We talked about prevadent and were able to get her some!! Overall, it was a good day. I guess I felt like I needed that since my last week (mockboard) was a downer for me!! Haha ....hey sometimes you need something to bring your spirits up!!!

VA and Mockboards...duh duh DUH!!
So this week at the VA we got to see a total of 3 patients. It was crazy hectic, but it was good to see how fast you had to be in order to get your other patient back in your chair. It was a long day, and to be honest, it will be super nice not having to drive to Salt Lake every single week. Save me alot on gas thats for sure!!
Now on to mockboards....lets just say I was happy to not pass. I mean of course I was disappointed in myself, but I honestly needed to see where I was missing. This was one of the MOST stressful days I have EVER had in this program. And it was only worth 10 points!!! But I think I was upset about the fact that I felt like a horrible hygienist! I did not know why I had missed the spots I did and I was doubting myself. Lets be honest, it was not a fun day. How will I ever pass BOARDS?!! This program has been the hardest, most stressful thing I have ever done in my entire life. Seriously, I think that if I only knew how hard it was going to be IN the program, I dont know if I would have ever continued applying to this program!! Haha Seriously, like they say, its getting out of this program that is the toughest!! Anyways, I just need to get better and improve on those areas that I missed. Wish me luck....I will need all of it to make it through the rest of this semester and next!!

Close your eyes and just feel...feel your way....
So today was one of those days I have been needing. Last week was horrible with all the cancellations and no shows, and now because of all of that I could not sleep last night!! It was horrible!! Relying on other people to determine your grade is ridiculous!! Its sad it has come to that!! We rely solely on these patients who cant even keep an appointment, to determine our grade in school!! Sounds ridiculous!! Anyways...enough venting..
Today I saw my sweet lady who is 2 quads a 2 and 2 quads a 3. She was SO close to cancelling on me last night, but I made her pull through!! She came in (a half hour late, might I add...) and I began scaling. She was bleeding...SO SO BAD!! I had her start rinsing with Chlorohexidine last week and so you could tell it was helping!! I finished her first quad really quick, and only missed one spot!! I was so happy!! Then I saw that I had 40 minutes to finish, and I did not want this poor lady coming back, so I hustled my butt and kicked it into gear and guess what....I got this woman FINISHED!!! And the best part, I missed that one spot out of all 4 quads!! It was so great!! I ultrasoniced the whole mouth and then went around and handscaled. I have NEVER used my explorer more than I did with her!! I remember we were taught to close our eyes and with light pressure feel around the tooth!! I did that today and oh my heavens, why have I not been utilizing it that way!! I felt SO MUCH calculus that I supposedly thought I got off!! Nope I didnt, so I went around and got all those areas and then asked for a scale check!! Alexander even was impressed at how well it was all cleaned!!! I felt proud...that one moment I never get...I cherished!!
Now for this afternoon, I was worried, because this patient no showed on me last week!! And I need him for my mockboards, so I needed him to show up!! Low and behold, he showed up!! Thank heavens!! He is super nice and the calculus is definitely there!! I did my screening on him and I actually felt the calculus!! He works 100%. I wish I would have waited until April to clean him, so then I wont have to worry about a board pt. But unfortunately he wants to be cleaned!!!
He qualifies for mockboards, so I am super excited!! Thats all I need, and I wanted a real mockboard patient so I can get the full experience!!
Today was a good day for me, I guess its the makeup for last week!!

Worst day EVER!
Well lets just say I am starting to feel like a horrible hygienist....is it me or my patients?!
First thing first, I had the VA yesterday and guess what...yep you guessed it....CANCELLATIONS!! Oh but it gets better than that!!! To top it off....I had NUMERO DOSE CANCELLATIONS!!! To put it nicely....I had cancellations up the yang!! Seriously people!! I cant catch a break!!! This is ridiculous!! Honestly!!
Well then today in clinic, I saw my sweet patient, who turned out to be 2 quads of a 2 and 2 quads of a 3!! Wahoo!! Holla!! Thats what I like to hear!! Unfortunately she is not board material...she had not alot of calculus!! Gosh dang it!! So I was bankin on my afternoon patient.....WELLLLLLL...that didn't turn out so well!! I called him and confirmed 2 this week, and both times he said he was coming!!! Guess what...THE KID BAILS!! NO SHOW! NADA!! I wanted to bawl my eyes out!! Seriously!! What is with this?! I wanted to just roll over and DIE!
Obviously, you can not make it out of this program without a cancellation!! They suck!! Nobody should ever have to go through with that!! I mean seriously...how hard is it to call me up and tell me you are not going to make it or sorry I dont want to come anymore?!! Seriously how hard is it?!! This is ridiculous!
Soooo....atleast I got my wonderful darling sister on SPEED DIAL!! I called her and had her get her booty up to the clinic!! I was not going to waste a clinic day on something ridiculous, so I made the best of it and did 3 pes on her!! She didnt want a cleaning so we just did sealants!! It was relaxed and wonderful...atleast I feel a little bit accomplished!!
Pray for me that next week I will find my mockboard patient...and that I wont have anymore cancellations!!!

C.A.N.C.E.L.L.A.T.I.O.N.S.
YEP....exactly what my title says. I had cancellations ALL day long at the VA today. But luckily I was able to see two patients still. I had two sweet patients today. My morning patient was my age and super sweet. We had alot to talk about and were able to have a really good appointment!!
At the end of the appointment, he asked for my number haha. It was hilarious, and I kind of figured it was coming. Too bad he wasn't my type!
This afternoon, I saw a lady who was on a one month prophy program, which meant she always came in once a month and had her teeth cleaned! She was nice, and we got along super well. Nothing too much happened, but it was a good day. I needed it!

Clinic and Lab
Thursday I ended up having a lady I work with come in and get her teeth cleaned. My class III patient cancelled and so I needed my back up patient!! Lets just say you never know what kind of a mouth you will have until you start working on them!! I thought she would have been a 1B, just actually is Perio maintenance!! What?! Can you believe it?! Seriously, this is out of control haha! It was interesting to see that her pockets were a little deep in some areas, and then no bleeding, but then there is definitely bone loss. Alexander helped me put it all together and it was cool to look at xrays, bleeding and pfi to determine what classification she was!! See....Im still learning!!
In the afternoon we had lab, and it was so fun! We got to use the ultrasonics, and the sonic. Then we learned more about graceys and then we were able to learn about blood glucose and all of that jazz!! Clinic is going good...minus the stressed out part of mockboards and everything!!

VA adventures
So obviously I had the VA today, who would have thought, right?! Anyways, I had a new patient this morning, and guess what. Turns out the man is perfectly healthy. He could not remember the last time he had been to the dentist, and look at his mouth....completely normal. Geez louise. I guess i shouldn't be "hoping" for disease. How SICK and WRONG are we?!! Seriously! The Dental Hygiene program makes us this way!!!
My afternoon patient was a little bit rough, he was kind of a diva, but hey everyone has their moments. I just let him be the diva and relax. It went well!! I got some pes done today and it was super nice!! Still, I have WAY more PE'S to go, but hey I made a dent, its fine!! Well clinic is tomorrow and then a lab in the PM! I have heard they are going to freak us out for boards....HEAVEN HELP ME!! That is the last thing and the first thing on my mind EVERY SINGLE WAKING MOMENT!! How will I ever pass?!!! It can happen, it WILL happen...we will be fine!! Until next time!!

All done.....with V's and 1bs.
Today was a good learning day for me. Even though my patients were so sweet and so kind, I still was able to improve my scaling skills. i missed a spot in the interproximal space on 24. Seriously you dont realize how easy we skip spots like that. Professor perry told me it was a tight spot and a hard one to get, he showed me how to angle the instrument further to the tooth in order to really get it. See even as a second year I am still learning and improving. I love second year clinic alot more than first year! First year is not fun! I guess its just a different kind of fun. haha. Some of the first years came in to do their observation and it was weird to think that just a year ago i was right in their place. Hearing them stress over all that was due and the exams made me laugh. Its kind of nice to be over that hump. But second year is a different kind of stress and i prefer it over last year. I always tell myself when i feel like its too hard or impossible, that "This too will pass!" Haha and thats what keeps me going! So those are my words of wisdom....this too will pass. You got this!!!(pep talk for myself!)

VA....always a story!!
Today I had the VA!! It was great!! My morning patient I saw had driven all morning to get here and he was so sweet!! I loved this man!! He did say something that freaked me out haha he said, "Dont rush, I have no place to be, Im a retired old man. Plus my fantasy is pretty girls...your just fine!" What?!! Excuse me?! Haha all i did was do a little haha and then said ok lets take a look into your mouth!! Crazy!! Sweet though!! He was 3 quads of a V and one quad of a III. I took 4 BWX and 1 PA. He was the best, class III's are hard, but I loved him!!
My afternoon patient taught me alot. He was shy and more nervous, so i was determined to break that barrier a little bit by the time the appointment was over. I think I hit that goal because I had him talking to me nonstop. Cool young guy! He was a smoker so we talked about that for a little bit and then we saw the staining. Connie and I started to polish it off and some did come off. But Bossenberger came over and said that it was some stain but alot of it was Class 5 caries!! Oh my gosh, I remember learning about that but not knowing exactly what it looked like!!! Crazy!! I learn something new every day at the VA!! It grows on ya, but its still not my favorite place to be. But i love how relaxed and fast paced it is!! I love Connie also!! She is amazing!! Love that woman, and she is a great hygienist! I hope I become as great and good as she is!!

VA insanity and my turn for CA
Well since I was CA today for clinic, which I might add was awesome!! I really enjoyed it!! No stress with patients!! Anyways, I had a crazy story I forgot to tell last week. At the VA, my afternoon patient had HIV!! I never ever thought I would see a patient with this disease!! I guess there is a first for everything!! Being nervous was definitely an understatement!! I said so many prayers to keep me safe and calm, so that a freak accident would not happen!! It was the craziest, awesome thing that happened!! As soon as I called my patients name, my nerves ceased!! I was expecting to deal with a very sick person, but what I saw was a 6'4 man who you would never guess had HIV. He was an awesome guy!! One of the coolest patients I have ever had!! I really enjoyed working on him!! I was so calm and able to think thru everything, and I did not make a mistake at all!! He was great, and I am so happy I was able to experience that!!
This week at the VA I saw a difficult class V, and let me tell ya, I was done with the VA that day. He was a difficult patient. First of all his blood pressure was off the charts, his lower and upper lip were like boulders trying to move them, which was impossible. His tongue was as strong as the hulk and then his cheeks were horrible!! I seriously could not do anything to get to his teeth!! He was impatient and his gag reflex was crazy bad. It was everything rolled into one, every patient is their very own.
In the afternoon, I was to my limit. I was frustrated and I wanted to leave. I had a new patient, and I knew this was going to be a very long time!! When I brought him back, I could smell the perio disease on his breath! As I was taking xrays, I could smell it thru my mask. This was the first day ever in my school career as a hygienist that I understood what everyone meant when they said wait until you smell periodontal disease!! Well I finally got too. I wouldn't think of it as a pleasure, because it was everything but that!! He was super kind and patient and very cooperative. He had not been into the dentist/hygienist in over 20 years. His fiance brought him in because (these are her exact words) "His breath stanks, and I ain't kissin' that until something is fixed in his mouth! We get married next June and I gotta fix whatever it is in his mouth, cuz I sure dont want it!" It made me laugh, because she was so adimit about his teeth, and he could careless, obviously. Well as I was probing I knew this was going to be good. His pocket depths were 6's 7's and 8's. He had pus and blood coming out of every single sulcus around his teeth!! He was foaming at every tooth and the smell was indescribable. Wow!! I just double masked up and went at it!! I finally got one quad done of a Class III!! A class 3 yall!! I was super stoked. It sucks because I did all the work and now another hygienist gets to have him and gets those requirements!! Ridiculous!! Oh well, I am hoping I will be able to get all of these requirements soon!!

Clinic = stressed to the max
Well first actual real clinic day over with. I had my mom this morning and then my friend Mallory in the afternoon. Its hard readjusting to everything after being gone for 4 months. Crazy how much you forget.
I really enjoy second year clinic, less busy work, less paperwork, basically we get all the crap out of the way!! Thank heavens. It speeds everything up so much faster!!
Today professor alexander taught me how to polishing using a trick. Holding the prophy paste and saliva ejector in one hand and then the polishing motor in the other. Its perfect, you can retract with it!! love it!! Look, they show us all the fun cool tricks in second year!! Ridiculous!!
Then in the afternoon Prof. Perry showed me how to use the prophy paste in between your middle and ring finger and then cup it and retract with your finger. HELLO!! So much easier!! I love it!! See two new ways in how to polish!! More tips are welcomed. He also showed me another trick, along side of his quizzing. Seriously, he does not give up. One question after another!! Its crazy, thats why we are nervous for him!! Oh well, its life right?!!
Overall clinic was good, I only saw two 1b's but hey its a classification.
BRING ON THE CLASS III'S PLEASE!!!!

Senior Year Baby!!!
Well, its official I have started my first week of my last year of Dental Hygiene!! I have been dreading this week since we left spring semester, and guess what....it came quicker than I ever expected!! I guess we have to be ready then we ever will be! I personally think I am never ready, but its totally fine!!
This first week went better than I thought it would. Of course I was not totally thrilled, but it was good. Its nice to look at the first years and laugh and remember all the stress and pain and ulcers in your stomach that came that first week of classes. YUCK!! Thank the heavens above we were able to get past that and finally be able to call us SENIORS!! Hey seniors! Ya thats us!! Ü
I really enjoy all of the instructors, and I think I will enjoy this year. As much as boards and mockboards and all that jazz frightens me, I think it will be great!! I had the VA on wednesday and lets just say its intense. I loved my patient, but the computer systems suck!! Seriously, no wonder why our government is messed up!! The computers are ridiculous!! Make it easy people, make it easy!! Anyways, I was super nervous, but in the end my pt was amazing!! He was so fun, that he calmed me down so fast!! I loved it!! I was able to get 4 quads of a class V. It was weird to get back into positioning, probing, etc. I didn't have anytime to get the feel for it all, I just got thrown into it, oh well I guess you gotta get back into the groove of things sometime right?!
Today I had clinic at WSU and it was a relaxed day. We rearranged our instruments, and it was fun to see the new instruments we got and figure out what the heck they were. Second year makes you feel legit haha. Sharpening was interesting, and I finally understand how to do it. Im not the greatest but I feel good about it! Comes with time!!
Well the Class of 2013 is underway....lets rock this year!!

Thats right THATS RIGHT...no more clinic...for this 1st year!
WHATS GOOD YALL?!!
Yes I am super happy because it was our last clinic day!! Holla!!!
I saw my class III today, cute lil old lady who was hard of hearing, poor gal.
I swear I was sounding like a fool trying to talk to her, but what could I do,
she could not hear me!! Anyways, her calculus...piece of cake!! Puts my other sweet
class III to shame!! It is such a nice experience to see two different types of class III's.
THe first was super tenacious and hard, just hard. This time, the calculus was stuck on there,
but was coming off like butter. Ok not really, I wish. I missed a couple spots, but nothing on my top quad. Today was a lot of firsts! My first time having to get a patient numb, wait for that to happen, then have a patient who was difficult, she did not want me to use the ultrasonic...WHAT LADY?!! Your tellin me you want me to scrape that crap off your teeth with my hand instruments?!! Girl, I do not have that much time, and the money to replace my instruments when they all BREAK off in your mouth!!! Ok!! So i talked her through it, and told her I would use my HVE tip so I could collect a majority of the water so it would not choke her. Last appt. the water made her choke!! Soooo...luckily she still let me do it!! It was like pulling teeth.....oh speaking of pulling teeth.....my sweet lady had class III mobility on #2!! This was my other first!! Class III mobility people...do you know what that is...its like touch the tooth and BAM you have extracted the tooth..thank you very much!! YIKES!! Lets just say I had sweat dripping out of every pore of my body just thinking about touching that tooth!! I was so so nervous!! But the clock was ticking and the bacteria/calculus was starring at me and growling, so i had to get it off asap!!
So....I took my graceys.....left the mirror on my tray....and used my other hand/finger to hold the tooth. Man alive!! As I was scaling it, the WHOLE tooth was sliding out with my instrument!! Are you kidding me?!! Ahhh!! I honestly have no idea how that tooth stays in there!! Gravity has not taken its toll on that puppy yet....it will though it will. It is hanging by nothing!! The bone is so so low, and there is nothing left to hold it!! Poor lady, she kept asking me if I had taken the tooth out yet! haha she was funny!! I guess she could feel me sliding the tooth out with the calculus!! Overall this patient was perfect experience and best way to end my clinic!! First year clinic has rocked!! I have learned so much and am so grateful for all the information I have learned!! I love how far I have come, I love how much I have learned!! I am sad and happy!!
This is the section I get to give a shout out to my homies!! My gina's!! My best friends~!!
SHOUT OUT TO POD #1!! LAKEN, ERIN, AND HEIDI!! I love these girls!! Laken and Erin were my first friends in clinic!! We all met the first day of clinic in august, and were so thrilled we had the pod with the windows!! These girls keep me going!! We all have similar personalities and we laugh ALL the time!! There is never a day we dont laugh, which is what keeps us going and its what makes us who we are!!~ I know I will be best friends with these girls for life!! Oh dont forget about Pod #2, April is in that pod. Love her guts!! Cesia is in another clinic session, but we love her!! All in all, the fab 5 is my favorite, and without these girls i do not believe my life would be complete (dont say its cheesy, because I know it is, but its the truth!) I feel like I have known these girls my whole life!! We were meant to be best friends, we were meant to ALL get turned down so many times to be able to get in this year and meet each other!!! I know that God truly does watch over each and everyone of us and he knows what is best for us!! I have seen that with these friends!! Over the much heartache and tears I had had because of not getting in when I wanted too, God knew all along I need to ,meet these girls so they could help me in this program!! My prayers were answered when I met these girls!! We will be friends for life. We have all gone through something that is the best/hardest thing ever!! We have shared experiences that no one will ever know except us. We will only be able to relate, no one else!! I love each and everyone of you girls!!

Extra Quads...booya baby
Today I needed an easy patient to clean. My friend at work has been begging to get her teeth cleaned, and I have not had time to get her in. So finally a spot opened up and I did get her in!! She came and was a 1b. I did not need the xrays so Laken took her set of BWX. I love sharing with each other. Its the only way to get through this program!! Great friends!!
Anyways, I finished her, and missed zero spots!! Ya buddy!! This was my last monday clinic day of first year ever!! It kind of bittersweet, but its ok!! I will miss my pod people!! They are my favorite ever!! We must take a picture on wednesday of us all!!
My class 3 patient comes on wednesday!! Wish me luck!

Yet again...seeing 2 patients in one clinic day is stressful!
I had my cute niece come in today along with my papa!! What troopers right?!! Love them both!! My niece was so excited to get her princess toothbrush!! She even wanted princess floss, but we didn't have it (darn it!) She was so precious! She sat and was a sweet little trooper! I needed one more set of bwx, so I asked her if I could take pictures of her teeth! She smiled and said yes!! Of course I had to treat the PID head as a camera, so I made the camera click sound and everything! She was loving it!! This was her very first dental hygiene appointment ever, and I think she loved it!! Thank heavens!! Anyways, I let her drink out of the "drinking fountain" aka my air/water syringe. And I let her hold the big mirror so she could watch what I was doing!! She was so so good!! She showed me how she brushed and it was so pretty and so cute, I wish I could have recorded it!! Anyways, she was quick and easy and I just love her!!
Next was my pops!! He is so cute and small, I love him!!
My original goal was to take a FMX on him, do a sealant, blood glucose pe, and scale him!! Alot right?! Right!! I am glad to say I got 3 out of the 4 accomplished!! As I looked at the time, I figured, heck why even start and OD, I wont even finish it! So we didnt!! I got all my requirements done today, minus the last 2 quads of my class 3!! And....drumroll please, my sweet friend April screened/saw/cleaned 2 quads of a lady I gave her, and guess what she is all 4 quads a class 3!! Whoo hoo!! Anyways, I see her next Wednesday, and I gotta finish 2 quads!! I can do this right?!! I guess monday I will just bring in someone who is an easy 1b!! Wish me luck, I need some extra quads thats for sure!!

CLASS 3....DONE...........almost.
So my cute class 3 came in today so I could finish her. Well lets just say clinic started off with a little bit of a disaster. My cute patient calls me and says, "Candi (yes she calls me that, and yes I realize that is a stripper name, and yes I am fine with it) I am going to be 25 minutes late, but I am coming, do not give up my chair to anyone. Thank you." What?!! Home girl, your gonna be late?! Thanks for callin, but please hurry! And no I wont give up your chair, becaue I GOT NO ONE ELSE!! I need you!!! So hustle your little toosh over here...now!! So I waited for her and finally she came. I got right down to business with that lady!! I passed off two pes on her universal and area specific. P.s. I love the Graceys...girls best friend. Anyways...I must tell you something so funny. Guess who has "soothing hands".....this girl does. Guess who fell asleep..yet again in my chair...my patient did. Guess who made a super loud...and I'm talkin "polar bear growlin" snore....my patient did!! Holla!! You know life is good, when you can fall asleep in a dental chair. It was priceless. I started laughing as soon as I heard her snore, then she woke up, was groggy, and went back to sleep. Then guess what happened next....she choked on her own spit. Yep folks I said it, she choked and woke up. Poor lady, all she wanted was a little shut eye! Not here lady, not here. You will have nightmares, not sweet dreams, if you sleep here. Jk everyone jk! Anyways, I missed 2 spots and was happy to be done. I acutally was not sore and all after finishing her. That was amazing. I guess I was not stressed at all. Thank the heavens above. Anyways, at the end of the appointment, she kept telling me that I need a massage and that I needed to buy a purse and jewelry from her. I guess that is the least I can do since she did spend 2 days with me, that equals 8 hours. So i just might. Weird?...not sure, give me your opinions. Anyways I thought of a theme song for the ending of clinic (3 clinic days people....3!!) wanna know what it is.....drumroll please.....
LOOK AT ME NOW!! By chris breezy....or for you old people, Chris Brown.
Go listen to it, and I apologize before hand for the naughty language. I didnt write the song. Anyways, Laken I KNOW you know this song, and girl just belt it out loud because you agree with me. This song represents all the crap we went through to get to the spot we are now, almost 2 years.!!! whoop whoop!! Do I still feel like I am not a good hygienist...yes, but who cares, first year is almost complete!! Holla!!
We have come so far since day one, crying on the curb because we could not get probing down. Wow. How funny is that. We knew we would look back on this and laugh, but at the time it was devastating. So all I gotta say to that is....LOOK AT ME NOW!!! Ya buddy!! We are high rollers. We know how to do a HHx correct, and OD correct and Scale!! Look at us now!! Suck it probing, we owned you!! Look at me now!!!
See ya Wednesday!!

Class 3 actually means Class "candice stinks at being a hygienist"
So obviously today was my class 3 patient. First item of business, she is thee cutest lady. Super sweet and kind. Second item, her calculus sucks. End of story. So she is so strong and patient with everything! I love her! April did her left side, and I am doing her right. We split this patient because I gave her the name while April did the screening because I could not. So it worked out perfectly. Anyways, today I worked so so hard on her mouth! I felt like I was getting so so much off her teeth and you could feel how smooth her teeth were, then it came time for a scale check. I missed spots...whats new. But these spots were DIFFICULT!! Honestly, I never understood what people meant by "tenacious calculus" until today. For the first time, I felt, and observed tenacious calculus removal. One word....SUCKS. Seriously, this stuff would NOT and I repeat NOT come off her poor teeth! It was like cement literally stuck/glued on her teeth!! So then you get lil ole me, 1st year baby student who thinks she has enough strength to get it off...wrongo. News flash candice, You dont. I was putting so much lateral pressure on the tooth (well atleast I thought I was) and then I had Karen and Sam come watch/help me. They gave me great tips and helped me feel for the rough areas. I would love to know why, why on earth does calculus, well atleast the hard spots, always like to be at the deepest end of the pocket!! Seriously! Cant we catch a break?!! Geez! Anyways, after I tried this specific spot, which I felt like it was tooth anatomy, I had karen take a stab at it. She pulled and pulled and still got nothing, so she figured it was tooth as well. Then sam went, and said the same thing, and then we got the big boss....costley. She came over and after I saw her strenght go at that tooth for about a good 5 minutes, she finally got it off. Apparently, it was burnished calculus...and might I add it sucks to get off. Clearly. I mean I had 3 people over helping me get this specific area off!! THREE PEOPLE!! Not two or not one....THREE!!! I swear I thought Costley was about to straddle my sweet patient just to get that calculus off!! It would have made a good laugh for the day!! Anyways, I was the last person to walk out my patient, and everything else. I felt good in some areas today, but horrible in others. I am drained. My low back hurts, and surprisingly not my shoulders. My baby fingers need to hit the gym, if you know what I mean. They are PATHETIC. I gotta get some protein or something in them, to help boost their strength! Ü I see my class 3 on monday...oh heaven help me. I dont like this, I wish you could snap my fingers and become good/strong. Will I ever be like the instructors or second years?!....who knows...I am hoping and waiting for that day.

Seester time...
Yep guess who stopped by and paid a grand ole visit to Pod 1, operatory 5....My sister.
Oh how sweet is she?! Ya, wish I could say she volunteered, but nope, miss hygienist here cant hustle and get a girl done in one appointment. (Ok lets just refresh ourselves and realize that she was my first patient E.V.E.R., so I CLEARLY had no idea what I was doing...besides the Health history part....psh who am I kidding, I didnt even know that!) Ok so today I hustled and got her all done in less than 1 hour, then I was able to do 3 pes on her and put some sealants!! Cute friend Erin decided to jump right in and get a sealant done as well...holla! She is great! Well not much more to say about todays appointment except that.....I LOVE HER!! And I think I found her a cute boy to marry, Lakens bro in law. (that is as soon as he gets home from the mish....but that stinks since he ONLY GOT HIS CALL LIKE LAST WEEK!!!) So she will have to hold out for 2 years!! The things you get to see when you are CA!! P.s. That is thee most dreaded job ever!!! To have to sit and listen to "you know who" for like 15 bajillion hours ramble on about who knows what!! It is ridiculous, straight up R.I.D.I.C.U.L.O.U.S! One down, one to go, and pray that it is over faster than fast!! Class 3 comes in on wednesday, I am peeping my pants!! Super nervous, but I guess all I can do is jump right into that bundle of fun....YA RIGHT!! Later!

Whoever invented conventionalfilms...should be kicked....HARD
So obviously you can tell I had to take a FMX with conventional. Wow, if that doesn't kill ya I dont know what will!! That is forever and eternity long!!! Seriously, I swear cavemen used those films. Not normal humans!! Those puppies are D.I.N.O.S.A.U.R.S.!!! My cute lil mama came in today and patiently sad while I took a full mouth on her!! She was so cute and so patient! It took me less than an hour to take all the films, but then I had to do 4 retakes. Yuck! But while I was waiting for my xrays to process, I must tell you two cute stories of my cute mom. So while I was waiting for my xrays, I decided I should check on my mom to make sure she didn't up and leave me. Leave me with 18 xrays to pay for. Because we all know that those types of things can happen in Dental Hygiene...only in Dental Hygiene. Well to carry on with my story, I peaked in and low and behold my mom had snuck out and grabbed her book from the clinic that she brought, and was just sitting ever so cutely reading her book in the xray room. I must have been boring, because really, who reads?! Jk! And then the second cutest thing that happened, (do you like how im using "cute" so much?....its annoying I know...I will try to stop) while I was taking xrays on her, she stopped me and said, "Candice, I am SO SO PROUD OF YOU!!! This is so neat, you got into the program you wanted, and are now doing something you love!! I am so proud of you!!" I must have you know, she was teary eyed when she said this!!....awwwww how stinkin sweet is she?!! I almost had the water works acomin'!! Golly mom!! Anyways, it was so fun to have her come in and meet my pod peeps and cute friends!
P.s. if you all must know, she thinks you are all adorable. Until next time!!

Phew...that was a doozy!
Sooooo...today I was nervous. Nervous for clinic. Why you ask?....well we only had ONE WHOLE WEEK OFF FOR SPRING BREAK!! I will let you in on a little secret, sunday night I was getting all my crap together to be prepared for the week and I was thinking about clinic (whatelse would I be thinking about?) anyways, I thought to myself...uh I don't remember how to start an appointment!!! AHHHH!!! How to start an appointment, are you kidding me?!! So I was scrambling just to remind myself! I pulled out every book you could think of, just kidding, but I did pull out my little mini pocket size clinic manual! Ü Wow! Seriously! It was only ONE week and I forgot. Good riddins, what is S.U.M.M.E.R going to be like!! YIKES!!! Study I guess!......hahah uh lets be honest, will I study?...N.O.P.E. Its sad when you already know you are set up to fail. Yikes.
Ok so today I saw my studdly big, little brother. Ü Did ya catch that?! Fun huh, he is super tall, well taller than me, but who am I kidding, thats not hard to beat. He looks like me, we are practically twins minus the shaggy hair...and facial hair, and other things Ü but nonetheless we are siblings. I love this little guy, and he loves me because he had a day off from school today, and what better thing would he want to do than get his teeth cleaned by me at 8am....ok not him but the madre made him. Which I am so grateful for!! He loves me and he loved it!! So today was the very first time I finished a 1b in one entire appointment! But I must say I had to "buckle down" and get going. I had to do a pano (conventional might I add, which SUCKS BALLS!..SORRY for the vulgar language...get used to it, this program brings out the worst) which took ages, and then 4 BWX. He was THEE perfect patient!! Huge wide mouth!! Nothing hurt him!! I love my broseph!! Then after all that was finished we got to work!! I disclosed him, and scaled!! Passed off a pe and finished his cute little mouth!! And I must add, I missed ZERO spots!! Hallejuah! It was good!! I worked all the way up until the last minute, but it doesn't matter, I finished him!! Plus got BWX, my last Pano, and a PE passed off!! Thank you brother for everything!! Oh and huge shout out to my awesome pod people who I love with all my heart!! They always help clean me up and get me out of there on time!! Thanks guys!! GREAT CLINIC DAY!!!!

Can we be done yet?!
KIDS KIDS KIDS!! I saw the two cutest little "grandpa" boys today for clinic! These two little boys I already knew and they were super excited to get their teeth cleaned....well there mom was! Ü I say "grandpa kids" because they are so so TINY!!! There mom dresses them up in the cutest sweaters, cardigans, cordiroys (not sure on spelling). They just are so darn cute!!! The oldest boy is 4 and the youngest is 2. Lets just say seeing kids is a WHOLE DIFFERENT BALL GAME!! You arent so much worried about getting your instrument straight or if your gingival descriptors are right or not!! All you are worried about is having them open up long enough for you to brush their tiny baby teeth!! Oh...and trying not to get bit!
Hudson was my first patient and he was so perfect! He held his mouth open so I could clean off the little calculus and plaque he had, and then he became a little irritable. I was like "child, I barely have begun! Chill for one second." So I thought to myself, if I was a kid, what would I want to play with. So then my little brain was a workin. I looked around got my big hand mirror and had him play with it! Well he is 4 and so holding the mirror ended up putting it up to his face so close, I could not even get to his mouth!! So I was onto the next plan...plan c....I looked around again and guess what....I SAW THE WATER SYRINGE!! Everyone loves water, especially little guys who love to drink out of cool things!! So I told him if he would let me look in his big dinosaur mouth and see his big "rectangle teeth" (that is what he told me they looked like after he saw them in the big mirror) he could get a drink of water from the fountain!!! HIS EYES LIT UP!!! MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!! I was able to look in and finish my scaling, then he looked up at me with his tiny big eyes and said, "candice,....can we be done?!" I felt so bad, (keep in mind it had only been like fifteen minutes, silly boy! But to a little kid its seems eternity!) but i wanted to polish to be safe, I got everything!!
So I told Huddy, "Do you want me to make your teeth tickle?!!!" What?!! Candice what just came out of your mouth?!! Your teeth to tickle?!! What the...! Ok ok, lets be honest that is the first dang thing that came to my head!! And guess what....IT WORKED!! DONT JUDGE, BECAUSE GUESS WHAT...YOUR GONNA WANT TO USE IT TOO!!!
Lets just say Huddy was THRILLED, ECSTATIC!! So mission #2...a.c.c.o.m.p.l.i.s.h.e.d.
He was so so good and yes we finished him and yes he was spick and span!!
NEXT UP....NASHY BOY!!
Well I saved him for last because I knew he was gonna be a rebel!! He sat up in the chair so perfect, and we went for a little ride...yep you guessed it....UP AND DOWN!! He just sat there so still with this smile on his face and enjoyed the ride!! Makes me laugh just to think about it!! Anyways, he wanted his lightning mcqueen toothbrush because hudson got one too so I opened it and asked him to brush for me!! He put it in his mouth touched two teeth and then handed it back to me!! hahahaha He was donzo!! So I tried, and guess what...I got no wheres!! So I decided to use my fingers to pry open his mouth....BAD IDEA!! He opened and right as soon as I got my pointer finger in his baby mouth....BAM!! HE CLUNCHES DOWN AND STARTS TO GRIND!!
OUUUUUUUCCCCCCCHHHHHH!!!! MAN ALIVE THAT KID HAS SOME CHOMPERS!!! I pulled (i mean I literally...pulled) my fingers out of the JAWS OF LIFE!! He was good the rest of the time, but man was that the quickest appointment ever!! I finished though!! 2 kids booyah!!!
sorry so so long, enjoy this fun story!!! Clinic is fun, full of memorable moments!! Chao!

Old lady car smell....ya..yuck.
So my dear old little lady class V came back today. I needed her to come back because it had been forever since she had been in to the clinic. Well...her daughter usually brings her but she did not have another day off, so this girl decided to pick her up herself. Yep...I did just that. Some random stranger I decided to pick up and clean her teeth. To the normal everyday person, they would be freaked out...but to us Dental Hygienists....thats normal....right? HAHA
Whether it is or isn't, home girl did it anyways!! She was so sweet and kind, and did not pull out a shank and kill me with it, so I was in good hands. BUT.....the one thing she did not have going for her, was the "OLD LADY STANKY SMELL". Wow. Its that smell of elderly ladies who have that stench that NEVER goes away. You can wash and wash and never get that smell to come out. I hate that smell because I have memories of my great grandma smelling like that and giving me wet, kisses. UGH. To say the least, I dont like that smell. And out of all days, today my nose was just not happy with it. Thank heavens it was 50 degrees outside, so when I took her home I rolled down all the windows and jammed out to Flo Rida. haha (Yes, if you must know, my car still smells, not as bad but every now and then you get a little whiff of it....)
Ok to get on with my story, clinic was great. Finish cute little old lady class V. She was great! She had lots of plaque, so that was bad, but overall she was easy. I am happy to have my class 2's all finished, well the requirement for it that is. I scaled faster and felt good about today!! Wednesday will be interesting...I am seeing two little boys a 2 yr and a 4 yr. Yikes. I am excited and nervous!! Hope all goes well!!! Now I must be off to the showers to get rid of the grandma smell.
* To all my dear friends, if I EVER...and I mean EVER begin to smell like that smell you know I'm talkin about....PUHLEASE get me to VS to buy some perfume and make me shower in it...ok...thanks*

Class 2...phew!!
Mr. class II is officially done!!! It feels good!! He was rough, but we made it out alive! Ü
He is such a good sport and I am so grateful he was able to come in today!! My goal was to finish him and pass off lots of PEs. And that is what I did. I wanted to do universal scaling, but that was not going to happen, so I did explorer #2 and anterior scaling. Oh and last minute I did intra-oral camera. I personally think it is ridiculous you can not pass off more than 2 pes in one class period. Dumb. It is getting down to crunch time so, pes have got to start getting checked off!!
My class V comes in on monday, and I can not wait to finish her!! She is so sweet, and so cute, minus the old lady smell. She is perfect!! Goal is to finish her, and get some pes accomplished. It feels like this semester is flying by, and I am trying to hold on and stay caught up with it all!!

The shift...
So I absolutely love having instructor vining in our pod! He rocks and I just love him!! He is a great instructor and teacher!! He helps you with your "work on it" areas and then helps you with helpful tips!! T0day he showed me the "Shift" technique. Its amazing!! And yes it does help alot!! I told him I would dedicate a post to him, so here I am dedicating it to him!!
I finished my patient today, did i want to do sealants yes, did I have to wait for the Dentist yes. Was it a substitute dentist, yes and did he take over 40 minutes to finally get to Marie to check her teeth?...yes!! Was I going to wait....NO!!! So I did not end up doing sealants! Sucks because I was so ready to nail it out of the park, again....NEVER PLAN FOR ANYTHING!!! Just go with the flow!!
Today was a great day and Pod 1 kicked trash if I might add. We killed it today!! So good!!
I love me some Pod 1!!!!
My goal today was to finish anterior and posterior pes and scale all 3 quads in less than 1 hour....and guess what...home girl did just that!!! Sealants was apart of that goal...but lets just forget that was even there!! Ü

Erin Read + helping me = sweetest friend ever award
Hey hey hey guess who got a class five?! This girl....and better yet guess who has a removable appliance......this girls patient!! Oh ya baby! My cute class five lady came in today and she was perfect. Pocket depths just what they needed to be and hardly any calculus. It was lovely. And this time around she had a removable appliance so guess who else got to use that today?! Me! I was not expecting it so I was a little flustered when I had to pass the pe off, but overall it went well. I passed, and thats what matters. Plus I crossed that headache off my list of requirements! It was stressin me out to say the least if you know what I mean!! My patient was so darn cute, smelt like old lady, but hey....its ok, she cant help it. haha Anyways I really need to dedicate this post to my dear friend ERIN READ!!! This is a shout out to her!!
I LOVE HER!! IF IT WAS NOT FOR HER HELP, I DO NOT KNOW WHAT I WOULD DO!!! SHE ROCKS MY SOCKS LITERALLY!!! Sadly, her patient never showed and so she was helping all of us. As a great friend, she was my assistant!!! WOW!! I owe her my first born child!! She helped me out so much. I had so soooooo much dental restorations to chart that without her it would have taken me ages!! Plus, throw in lesions up the ying yang, and you got yourself a long OD. Oh and might I add the HHx took 35 freakin minutes. My lady was a chit chatter if you couldn't guess. But when I found out my patient had a removable appliance sweet erin yelled out to me, uh do you want to do your removable appliance on her?! I thought for a second and I know my eyes lit up, of course I did!! Erin got everything ready for me and helped me out so much!!
ANYWAYS....moral of the story ERIN READ I love you and appreciate you so much!! Without you I would have been lost!! Thanks so much friend!! I love you and am so happy we are friends and thanks for all you did for me!! I owe you big time!!!

LAB Day
Lab days are one of my favorites. Its when you can sit and relax and not worry about seeing patients!! Thank the heavens above!! It literally so so nice!! Today we learned the Diagnodent, how to clean removable appliances and then did a blood glucose test!! It was fabulous! Minus the part of getting my finger pricked!! Yikes. I was seriously freakin out about that. My finger started to pulse because the poor thing knew what was coming. I was having a time, but we had to do it, so we did. Lets just say my finger was bruised for a couple days. Can you say wimp?
Lab day was grand, very long, but grand.

Class 2....
So today was definitely an off day for me! NOt on my
A game, but its whatever. That is going to happen!!
But my class 2 all i have to say is....UGH!!
And his tongue was brutal...it would not GET OUT OF MY WAY!!!
I tried everything and finally I had to say....as kindly as I could...
"SIR, PLEASSSSE RELAX YOUR TONGUE!!"
HAHA You would think that would help....NOPE!! Man oh man, he was a tough one.
Until next time, I know I dont have alot to write about today, but I did have an "awha"
moment....I realized that crowns will hold you up!! They feel like calculus (margins that is) but its not...there are more bad crowns than good ones!! So tip of the week, just go!

First time!
Today I was able to share a family with some of the other girls in clinic. I had a boy who was 16 years old, and he was so great! He was a 1b, but was super easy. Today I decided I needed to do conventional films on him, since I haven't done any films yet! Yuck. Lets just say I hate film. I would rather do digital! But it is what it is, and I had to wait and wait for those stinkin films! Waste of time I tell ya, waste of time! Anyways, my goal was to finish this kid, but with my problems in radiology, that did not happen! BUT...good news is, I finished an OD on him AND for the very first time got to scaling and finished a quad. Wow! I know this sounds lame, but I am proud of myself! I sped things up and just went! Next time when he comes, I am going to finish his mouth, do some sealants and pass off some pes!! This is going to be fun! Hopefully! Anyways, today was good, I just needed to prove to myself that I could do this and now I think I will soon be able to finish a lb in one appointment!!

Patients are blessings....sometimes Ü
I must tell you all about my insane "never want it to happen again, but im sure it will" story. Sunday day, my patient cancels on me, it has to happen to everyone and today was my turn. I was frantically...and when I say FRANTICALLY looking/calling people...I am not kidding!! I asked family, none of them could, I asked neighbors, friends, friends of a friend, etc the list goes on. I was a wreck. I could feel me start to hyperventilate, but I knew I could not let that happen! So, as it was a sunday, what better thing to do then pray. I PRAYED LIKED CRAZY! In th midst of all the craziness, I get a little text message on my phone. It was a lady in my ward. She asked if I needed patients still!! WHAT?! IS THIS REALLY HAPPENING?!! I immediately said yes of course. She said her parents were up for a cleaning and needed to come to someone cheap!! OH GOOD HEAVENS, if that was not a little tender mercy from God I do not know what is! I asked if her dad wanted to come in tomorrow since my patient cancelled and she said he would love too!! So I called him, went to his house, got a healthy history and we were on our way!! So lets fast forward................
Monday comes and since his last cleaning had been less than a year I could not take xrays, so Instructor vining said we would have to look clinically and make our classification from that. So I start to probe....4's start to pop up....5's pop up....and I get one little 6. He had moderate calculus on all teeth both supra and sub and from the looks of it I thought he was a class II. So when I had my OD check we figured out he was a CLASS II!!! AHHHHH i found my class 2! I have been stressing! I have only seen 1b's and dont get me wrong thats great but I need to finish requirements!! So moral of the story is....When you think you are donezo, your not. Someone is watching over you and is taking care of you!! Even in this stressful school environment. Ü Everything will work out how it should. Just have FAITH!!

Another one bites the dust!
So guess what, I finished another 1b Wednesday! My friend Treston came in on monday and I was able to take xrays and OD him and then Wednesday he came back so I could finish him up! My first quad took the longest and I think its because I still think there is stuff there when it really isn't! Because my last 3 quads I finished in 30-40 minutes! Instructor Caldwell is now in our pod and I love her! She is helpful and so sweet! Its nice to get changes sometimes! I missed only 2 spots which I could not even see I missed, but then she showed me and I definitely could see the white!! I think when I am under pressure I can finish so many quads, but the first quad is always my longest!! I hate it! My goal next time is to finish the first quad in 30 minutes or less! Wish me luck! I think I can do this, its just a matter of pushing myself!!! I need to start getting some pes done, so this will be interesting as well!! Hopefully I find my class 2 and 3!! Yikes!!

Birthday day!
Its my birthday folks! Yep on a clinic day! Yuck! Seriously, who would ever choose to have it happen like that?! Not I, but unfortunately it is and I am living with it! I started the birthday festivities last friday and partied all througout the weekend! Oh ya thats how I do it! I am partying all week long as well...i mean hello this is my birthday week, might as well appreciate being born!! And that is exactly what I am doing! Whoop whoop! Jazz game tonight, oh ya!
Anyways, clinic....
Well I had my friend Treston come, he has pretty big teeth and so cleaning is going to be nice, atleast I hope so. He is a 1b, but this is just fine, I need to get ready for what is ahead of me right?! Clinic still scares me! I am not a fan, but it has to be done right? Anyways, I could have started and finished a quad, but waiting for an instructor check kind of stinks, especially when it takes ages! Oh well, next time I will get him all cleaned and ready to go wednesday! Thats the goal, and to speed up my scaling time.

Ultrasonic = BEST FRIEND!
One thing I absolutely love is the ultrasonic!!
Today I had Nic Green (my monday patient) come back in so I could finish his teeth!! I will be honest with you, I was so nervous to finish him. He had so much calculus on his anterior teeth on the lingual side that it started to become a brownish dark yellow color!! It was so so bad. The first time I have ever seen anything like it! But I was excited to get it off! My goal was to finish his whole entire mouth before 2nd scale check. I started to use my SH67 because his calculus was tenacious, but after trying to scale and realizing I was not going to get anywhere with it, I asked Sam the TA if I could use my ultrasonic. Now lets be honest, we only tried it out in lab so I had no idea how to use it on a real person. The typodont does not even count. Anyways, I had her stay by me and watch me and help me. She was amazing she helped me so much! I have NEVER seen calculus come off like it did with the ultrasonic, it made my day! The little things in life right? haha I was able to scale 3 quads in 30 minutes!! Ahh that was a record for me, and I was so proud of myself. I think i will try next time to see if i can scale one quad in 15minutes. But my goal for monday is to get a quad of scaling done. I have to push myself more!! But some more good news, I missed ZERO spots today on my scale checks!!! ZERO!!! Ahh!! It made my day, I love the ultrasonic! But believe me, Prof. Costley was itching to find something I swear haha, she finally gave up because guess what....she wasn't going to find anything!! Boo ya! Anyways, today made me realize I this is what I want to do even when i think i dont want too, I really do! Until next time!

My hopes were crushed...
Ya know that feeling when you think you have something, and it turns out to not be what you were thinking? Yep thats how monday went for me. My neighbor Nic, had not been to the dentist for over 6 years! 6YEARS!!! He hates to floss and brushes every so often, uh doesnt that just scream a possible class 2?!! I thought so too, right?...well wrongo... he turns out to be a class 1b. I thought I had it!
I was able to get a set of bwx on him along with a pano!! It was awesome! That was my goal for the day, to get all that done and an OD check. He is coming back on Wednesday so I want to finish up on him! I may use the ultrasonic on him, because he has some thick calculus on his anteriors. It will be the first time i have used it on someone besides a typodont. Ü

Jessica...IS...FINISHED!!!
Yep guess who finished a patient!! This girl did!! So super happy with myself. Though I am not even fast yet, all I was happy about was finishing. That was my goal today. Was to just finish and get her done! She had a couple of teeth that were so so difficult to clean because they were malpositioned. When I think back about it, im glad I got to experience it because not everyones teeth are going to be perfectly straight. I did miss calculus on those teeth, but ya know what who cares. I am learning and that is to be expected. So what if you get a bad grade on it, so what if you get a stupid check on taleval....it has to happen in order to learn. School is tough, seriously, but somehow we will all make it through. Yep I said it, SOMEHOW we will all make it through. haha We better or else. Ü
Next time a family friend Nic Green is coming in to get his teeth cleaned. Lets see how this goes!
Wish me luck.

Clinic Days...uh
So Wednesday was our second day in Clinic.
I saw my friend Jessica. She has not been to the Dentist for over 3 years, and so this was perfect for her. She was awesome and just went with the flow. She realized it was going to take awhile and how grateful I am for that. From Monday, I decided I can NOT, REPEAT....CAN NOT expect things. Things happen both good and bad, and with Hygiene you just have to roll with the punches. It sucks, but thats what has to happen.
I decided I had to just go faster and see what I could get through with her.
I ended up taking a set of bitewings on her, scan x, and then got through and entire OD and OHI. This was big for me. I am not a speedy person, I am a perfectionist, but I feel like after every experience I will try and do somethng better and faster. This appointment was about probing. I feel more confident with it, but still i'm not the fastest. My cute friend Cesia was the CA for the afternoon and helped me probe. She wrote down my numbers and my goal was to be done in 15 min. or less. GUESS WHAT PEOPLE....15 minutes I was able to probe the entire mouth!! oh ya!
I may look back at this later and just laugh, but hey its an accomplishment.
Yes, I did have someone writing down for me, which in all honesty, is SO HELPFUL!! Probing stinks, lets just put it like that. Anyways, it went good. I wish I could have gotten to scaling, but that will happen next week!
Requirements are scaring me, but im just hoping and praying everything works out for me.

Am I cut out for this?
So today was the beginning of patient treatment semester!
Today I learned not to put expectations on how much you get done in one appointment.
I can not control what happens, if something goes wrong, etc.
I had in my head to finish my sister that was my goal for today.
It did not happen. I have never taken calculus off and so I spent too much time
figuring out what was calculus and if I felt calculus, etc.
It was just a frustrating day.
And it definitely did not help that we had an instructor who takes an ETERNITY to do an OD check. One gal in our pod had to wait 45 mins for an OD check!! Seriously who wants to be waiting for an OD check for 45 minutes. It cuts into our scaling time!! AHHH today was seriously probably one of the worst days yet. And even better, its only day one.
I say this all the time, but HEAVEN HELP ME!!!

BACK to The GRIND
Welcome back ya'll!!
It feels so good to be back......YUCK! No it does not!
Believe me when I say, I feel like everything slipped out of my ears while on break. I was so burnt out that I shoved all my books in a corner and never looked back. Regret any of it....uh nope.
So today was our last FREEDOM clinic day. Ya no more fun from here on out....sad! We learned how to ultrasonic scale today which was fun after I understood the concept of "its like a probe" Thats when my light bulb came on! Honestly I could see how Hygienists like to use this over hand scaling because it is so nice you just go and dont look back. We also learned about Graceys! Those instruments are super nice! I love them!
My goal for monday is to finish Kendra. To pace myself and focus. Lets hope monday turns out ok.
To be honest, this semester is scaring me! I think this semester might kill me. It will be a miracle if I come out alive haha jk But seriously, this is going to be one rough 4 months.
I CAN DO THIS!!! Do my best and forget the rest.
Well not forget, just work better and harder at it!
